House Of Cards Actor Reg E. Cathey Dies

Actor Reg E. Cathey, best known for his roles in the Netflix drama “House of Cards” and the HBO series “The Wire,” died.

His death was announced Friday night by David Simon, creator of “The Wire”, who paid tribute on Twitter to the deceased 59-year-old actor.

“Not just a good master actor, but simply one of the most exquisite human beings with whom I have spent long days in the studio,” Simon wrote. “Only with his wit could he bend any man and leave him thinking, Reg, your memory is a great blessing.”

More details about Cathey’s death, including the circumstances of his death, were not immediately available.

In 2015, Cathey won the Emmy for her role in “House of Cards” as Freddy Hayes, the owner of a restaurant which is often visited by the character of Kevin Spacey, Frank Underwood.
